Warner Music made extra money from streaming than it did downloads
So it appears that evidently whereas streaming providers do not supply a lot of a payout for artists, no less than one label is seemingly doing fairly properly off of them. Warner Music Group introduced in the present day that for the primary time ever it made extra money off of streams than it did promoting downloads. With revenue from Spotify and YouTube, the outfit raked in some 33 % extra money in its second quarter whereas digital music gross sales solely elevated by a paltry seven %. The Deftones’ label says that it will hold working with streaming companions to maintain this type of factor occurring and to “guarantee artists and songwriters obtain applicable worth for his or her work.” Hopefully meaning a re-appraisal of streaming royalties for the individuals who, you understand, truly make the music that is being streamed.
