San Francisco’s public defecation map highlights a shitty state of affairs
Questioning what that odor close to the Civic Middle is, San Francisco resident? So far as critical interactive maps go, Human Wasteland is likely one of the strangest we have seen. Created by civil-engineer-turned-net-developer Jennifer Wong, the venture plots human excrement “incidents” reported by the general public to SF311. Her challenge gained a hacking contest placed on by actual property website Zillow, an ironic honor contemplating the town’s contentious housing points. The very best focus of crap is at an alley downtown subsequent to the monetary district, proper in a heavy-traffic space frequented by vacationers.
Whereas the odd drunk or different soul might have had an emergency, the map is extra about people who do not have a rest room, interval. In accordance with the SF Weekly, the map (graphically) displays the town’s issues with restricted, filthy public restrooms and lack of providers for the homeless. So whereas it is amusing for non-residents and disgusting for metropolis middle dwellers or vacationers, it did make me assume: “The place would I’m going in public if I had no selection?”
