Nintendo's Energy Glove reworked into drone controller
Nintendo’s Energy Glove might have been ahead-considering and progressive throughout its time, however sadly it did not all the time perform in addition to we hoped it might. Fortunately one artistic pc engineering grad has given it a brand new lease on life as a wi-fi drone controller.
Debuting at Maker Faire 2016, Nolan Moore tore down the Energy Glove, then reassembled it with a Wi-Fi transmitter, flex sensors and a wealth of further elements to rework it from so-so retro peripheral into a strong controller that may alter the course of a drone with easy hand actions. As an example, making a fist will get the drone to roll, which a flat hand makes the drone hover in place.
Moore’s work is spectacular, and you may see it in motion within the video under. However that is not all he plans on doing with the glove. Sooner or later he’ll be changing the Wi-Fi module with Bluetooth, an RC or IR transmitter or different customized RD or USB HID dongle. The ultimate type for this hacked Energy Glove shall be a Common HID. And up to now, the venture is wanting actually, actually good.
