Chinese language tech firm Baidu introduced at its Baidu World convention on Tuesday that it’s launching a voice-activated assistant for its Android-based mostly smartphones. This system is known as “Duer”, which roughly interprets into “Du Secretary”, is predicted to instantly compete with Siri, Cortana and Google Now. Initially, the app will permit customers to carry out duties like ordering meals in addition to controlling sensible units across the house and accessing different on-demand providers (journey hailing, designated driver providers, or housekeeping) by way of voice command. Ultimately, the corporate plans to combine Duer into its different apps, like Maps, and probably even into the self-driving BMW that the corporate is rumored to be engaged on.
